Peter D Robinson’s new musical is set in 1650 during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Witchcraft, love, bloody battles, deceit, murder and a healthy dose of fire and brimstone bring the events and characters to life at a time when Scotland, and indeed all Europe, was afire with righteous passion and fear in equal measure.
Peter D Robinson’s setting of this ancient Christian hymn, set for four voices and string quartet, is sung in New Testament Greek. Also featuring Hymn to the Guardian Angels sung in Latin. Praise for Canticles, 2013: ‘A blissful new piece of work ... the music was wonderfully crafted. I shall go to sleep tonight still marvelling at the exquisite voice of Anna Chidgey’ (Kevin Grumball). ‘Soothing and uplifting ... full of graceful music’ Three Weeks.
The story of the three holy children from the Book of Daniel set for choir, soloists and string orchestra, this new piece from Peter D Robinson. MTM Musical Theatre Awards nominee for Best Composer (2007), has its premiere in the Fringe 2016. Sung in English, Latin, Greek and Hebrew, the piece examines how political spin and propaganda are often at odds with the truth of a situation, resonating with the many troubles in societies across the world today.
